At round 9 of the Moto GP was at Donington Park for the British Grand Prix. 2007's Moto GP Champion Casey Stoner, who has not had a perfect season so far, started the race up in pole position with Valentino, who is celebrating his 200th start, right behind him and Chris Vermeulen concluding the first row of the grid.

Already a hero in Britain, James Toseland was planning on entertaining more than 80,000 British fans, and not just his piano playing. Although during qualifying James fell off twice on the final qualifying lap which stopped him from gaining a prominent position, falling to the back of the grid and starting from 16th position. Also starting near to the back was 2007 MotoGP runner-up Dani Pedrosa, who's wet lap times in qualifying just wasn't up to the same standard as those of Stoner and Rossi.

As the race had started, James had begun with a flyer hoping to gain a few places early on, unfortunately James exuberance on cold tires escalated into a high side which promptly turned into a low side at the first corner. After picking up his bike from the gravel he didn't look as if he could even finish, let alone within the top ten.

The number 1 Ducati rider Casey Stoner led the entire race with a few seconds between him and Rossi, in second place. Rossi's and Pedrosa's battle wasn't yet over, they spent three laps squabbling over second place, although the 7 time World Champion Valentino Rossi came out top and left Pedrosa to sit comfortably in 3rd place.

Although finishing last James Toseland proved to all the fans that he wasn't ready to quit. Lorenzo may have been suffering from previous injuries and suffering from lack of confidence, managed to finish in 6th position. Ben Spies, who was standing in for Loris Capirossi who had injured his hand at Catalunya, found himself finishing at 14th.

JT's head hung in disappointment, a marshall gave him a fag at Redgate, the very bend he came off. Final gesture from JT to his fans, was to ride the circuit - the fans responded with rapturous applause - GO JT!
